Mike joined our staff in January of 2003, with over 15 years of business experience in various service Industries. He is a certified fitter for Ping, Taylor Made, Nike, Callaway, and Cleveland, blending knowledge with experience. Mike is known for his very high level of customer service, his product knowledge, and for always going the extra mile for his customers. When customers come into our store, whether they are looking for a dozen balls or want to shake up their entire bag, he will recommend equipment based not only on ability level but on personal taste as well. Every step of the process is tended to in a way that goes above and beyond a generic purchase.

After graduating from Bridgewater State College with a B.S. in Management in 1990, Eric began a 13-year career with Frito-Lay Inc. where the focus was on providing customers with "World Class Service." This is exactly what you will receive when you shop at golfology. He is proud to be a part of a sales and management team that provides customers with not only the best golf equipment you can buy, but with the best customer service in the industry. As an avid golfer for over twenty years, he works to provide our customers with the right equipment to suit their needs and help them to enjoy the game as much as he does.

Steve currently divides his time between warehouse operations—domestic as well as overseas—and purchasing. If a product enters or leaves any of our buildings Steve will be meticulously involved in the process. Also a knowledgeable salesperson, who has worked with us since 1998, he enables customers to play their very best golf, aligning himself with golfology’s goal of superior customer service. Steve finds the congeniality between customers and co-workers the best part of the job. He takes great pride in being part of the team Golf World magazine has voted one of the best Off-Course retailers in the country every year since 1991.

Keith, a tried and true professional, has worked in the golf industry since 1987, and with golfology since 1999. He began as a store manager in our Hyannis location and, based on his outstanding knowledge of technology and sound financial planning, has risen to become the Director of Purchasing for the entire company. His careful decisions with vendors guarantee that we can bring the best golf equipment in the world to our customers. What inspires him is the dynamic quality of technological advancements in the golf industry. Always ready to lend a hand, Keith resides halfway between our Hanover corporate headquarters and our Hyannis golf store. He is enthusiastic about being able to offer our customers the best in pro-line golf equipment.

After graduating from the College of the Holy Cross in 1998, Brendan spent four years working in management for a rental car company. Although he experienced valuable training and gained practical business knowledge, he still yearned to incorporate her lifelong passion of golf, with his professional career. golfology has been the perfect match, and each day he experiences a unique sense of personal fulfillment due to the fact that he’s able to be a part of the golf industry through such a great venue.

Eric joined the Company after leaving the ski industry where he was both a Manager and a Hard Goods Buyer. After much success, he made a decision to get involved in the golf industry, starting out as a part-timer and working his way up to management. Today he is a student of the game, from the fundamentals side as well as the technology side, in “constant search” to broaden his knowledge base when it comes to being a Custom Fitter. That is why he doesn’t consider himself a sales person; he is a custom fitter of golf equipment. His goal is to make his customers better golfers by equipping them with the proper tools to succeed.

John has been with our Company since 2001 and was promoted to Store Manager in September of 2002. He attended Watertown (MA) High School and was Co-captain of its golf team. John continues to hold the distinction of having earned the most varsity letters in the history of Watertown High School athletics.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

John has over twenty years of business experience in service industries, more than half of which has been involved in a retail golf environment.  He is known for his very high level of customer service, his product knowledge, and for always going that extra mile for his customers.

John joined the Company in April of 2006 as a Sales Associate and accepted the Assistant Manager position in October of 2007. He views his staff as a team, and their focus is on providing the best inventory of equipment and unmatched service to customers. Whether a novice golfer, or an accomplished player, they provide an environment that you will enjoy and expertise that will help your game.

Philips W. Upham II, CEO

After graduation from Babson College in 1964, Phil Upham commenced a career spanning 15 years with Ludlow Corporation. In 1979, Ludlow Fine Papers was acquired by TYCO. Restricted by a non-compete agreement, he elected to retire from the industry and pursue his entrepreneurial training and instincts.

From 1980-1984, he grew two independent rep agencies, dedicated to the rapidly growing computer service industries. His success running his own companies led him to a position as V.P./General Manager of H. T. Madden & Co., one of New England’s largest health and beauty independent representative organizations.

In 1986, his desire to be free from the corporate environment and his love of golf blended, leading him to meet with Edwin Watts and ultimately purchase an Edwin Watts Golf Franchise.

Over the past two decades, his first store in Hanover, MA has grown from a cramped 1100 square feet to over 9,500 square feet with two extensive warehouses and complete in-house purchasing, accounting, shipping, receiving, and distribution departments. Since then, additional stores have been added to serve the New England market.

Dating back to 1991, each year the company has been selected a winner of the most coveted recognition award in retail golf: Golf World Business’ “25 Best Off-Course Retailers in America.”

In 2010, he made the decision to become an independent golf retail shop and rebranded the company as golfology. golfology is run by the same people and owner you’re accustomed to dealing with over the last 2 decades; however, the new company has no present affiliation with Edwin Watts Golf, although we continue to be very proud of our history and successful past relationship. golfology is now affiliated with GolfHeadquarters.com. Our association, known as the National Golf Buyers Association, Inc., is the largest off course golf buying group in the country with over 120 independently owned and operated associate golf retail stores. The result of our association is that you, the customer, benefits. For over 20 years, the NGBA, Inc. has been committed to helping our associates offer their customers competative prices and quality products.

His future goal is to be the best parent/grandparent he can be while overseeing the continued growth of our retail golf business under our new identity: golfology, “The Best of the Best.”

Over the next four years he led the store through the most dynamic growth period in the company’s history and was instrumental in hiring and training many of the key personnel that still remain and help run the Company today. That success enabled Edwin Watts Golf-New England to open its second location in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Kevin is most proud of the many long standing customer relations they have been able to build and maintain for over two decades both inside and outside the business. Now, there are new challenges as Edwin Watts Golf-New England transitions to golfology. The same dedication and commitment to excellence with remain. As golfology’s Executive Vice President, Kevin is excited about the opportunity to rebrand the business while maintaining the great customer service and product selection they have been known for since 1986. golfology is run by the same people you’re accustomed to dealing with since opening and it is their promise to deliver the same outstanding service to each and every customer.
